Know where your food comes from

To the editor:

Living in the Valley, farming is a big part of our economy as there are a number of different farms. The farm to school budget item applies directly to communities like ours, which is why it’s such a great idea. This budget item is sponsored by state Sen. Click Bishop, and it basically provides schools with funds to take field trips to local farms and even start their own gardens.

As children and young adults, it is important to get the facts and education about healthy life choices. It’s important to know where your food comes from and with most school cafeteria systems you don’t get that opportunity. Why eat frozen, reheated food when you can get healthy, farm-fresh produce while learning important life lessons?
