PALMER — The Palmer Moose are in the middle of a brutal stretch to end the regular season. And Monday, the Moose took another tough loss.
Kodiak used an 18-point first quarter to score a 45-33 Northern Lights Conference win over the Moose at Palmer High School.
The game was Palmer’s fourth in five days, and one of seven in the final 10 days of the regular season. Palmer will play half its 10-game NLC schedule during the final 10 days of the season. The Moose suffered a three-point loss to Soldotna last Thursday and beat Kenai in overtime last Saturday. Palmer hosts Kodiak again on Tuesday and Colony Saturday night.
The tough final stretch also includes nonconference games against Lathrop and West Valley, a pair of teams that played in the state tournament last year.
The Moose dropped to 2-6 in NLC play with Monday’s loss.
Billy Alcaide scored high of his game-high 17 points in the first quarter to spark Kodiak. Jemuel Mangalus added 16 for the Bears.
Sophomore Tye Ramoth hit four three-pointers and scored 14 points to lead Palmer.
The teams meet again Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. at PHS.
