A trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles in any state is usually considered as pleasurable as a colonoscopy. Long waits, grumpy clerks and being sent to the end of the line for the slightest error on forms is the norm. Not so at the Palmer DMV! I had to get a new registration during lunch and, as expected, the place was slammed. Despite this, they were extremely efficient, quick and helpful. I did not know my license plate number, VIN number or even the exact year of my vehicle (I had come in fully expecting be sent home empty handed for these infractions). The clerk just smiled and very cheerily said “I’ll just look that up for you” and proceeded to fill out the form for me. “Wow” I thought to myself...”is this a government agency?” Kudos to the Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles for being exceptional!
