Kudos to Palmer Hay Flats

To the editor:

Congratulations to the Alaskans for Palmer Hay Flats for accepting the Lowell Thomas Jr. Award for Outstanding Achievements by a Conservation Organization from the Alaska Conservation Foundation. It was a great event at the Aviation Museum in Anchorage. The Mat-Su Valley should be proud of the amazing contribution this group has made to improving our lives. I am even further impressed their board of directors has a youth member helping to promote the preservation of beautiful spaces for our community.

Any local person who uses the hay flats access points knows this group has really been working to develop user-friendly spaces we can be proud of. Over the past six years our refuge space has transformed into a wonderful place that we can all access. The refuge is a wonderful resource for all of us to enjoy with our families and friends, as well as a point of pride we can all look to.

Thank you, Alaskans for Palmer Hay Flats, for making our lives better. I was so proud to be from the Mat-Su Valley today! Thank you on behalf of my family we enjoy the hay flats regularly and appreciate the enormous effort that has been made in order for us to have this luxury and gift.
