A standing ovation needs to be given to a small general store, its family and friends in Sutton.
This will be the fifth year that Sutton Activities Council has done the Care Tree, which is operated from the Sutton General Store. Rebecca Hobbs single-handedly coordinates this program, which helps hundreds of individuals and dozens of families. Not only does Hobbs and the SAC find out what is needed and wanted by the individuals then shop for them, she and the Sutton General Store fund the gifts for those who were not covered by community donations.
A special thanks should also go out to Hobbs family for volunteering to live in the chaos that shopping and wrapping hundreds of presents creates. A small apology goes out for her two very young nephews, who come Christmas morning, will be totally confused when they’re actually allowed to touch some toys. So come Christmas Eve when everyone is sitting down to a nice dinner, remember Rebecca Hobbs and her elves, who at that very moment are out delivering gifts in Santa suits.
