Ladies Auxiliary VFW seeks care package donations

Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9365 seeks donations for care packages it will send to troops deployed in Afghanistan — the Bravo Blackhawks Battalion 10 Tomahawks with 147 soldiers and the 176 Security Forces Squadron with 25 soldiers.

The group is asking for donations to fill the care package boxes. The idea is to collect items throughout the summer and send packages every month until the soldiers come home.

All donations may be dropped off at VFW Post 9365, 301 E. Lakeview Ave., Wasilla. If donating cash, mark the envelope “Care Package Donation.”

Here’s a brief list of ideas for items to include in care packages: baby wipes, phone cards, magazines, books, movies, hand warmers, foot warmers, toothbrushes, mouthwash, Febreze, body wash, body spray, Pringles, crackers, beef jerky, comic books, travel-size games like chess or checkers, playing cards, memory cards for PSPs and memory sticks.
