Lakeside Laundromat opens in Big Lake

There is a new option for washing your cares away, or at least your stains.

Owner Shawn Fuller took ownership of the old Doc Rockers Laundromat and after remodeling, updating, repairing, and refreshing everything, Lakeside Laundromat began its soft opening April 15, and it’s not your ordinary laundromat.

“I want to make it nice for people, clean, professional, and a great facility for people to come to and use,” said Fuller, who adds that the biggest thing for laundromat is to maintain cleanliness

One stand-out feature is the Aqua Recycle reclaim water system in place.

“It reclaims 80% of the water used,” explains Fuller about why he installed the system. It will also reduce wastewater as the water will be reclaimed and treated, and recycled and sent back to the washing machines.

Another thoughtful feature is the Kidzone play area. Recognizing the need for a space for kids while keeping safety in mind, the space has a designated television, books, and games. There are also security cameras everywhere to maintain safety.

Anyone who has used a laundromat before can recognize that there isn’t much to do while waiting for clothes the spin, rinse, and dry. Lakeside Laundromat features an impressive snack menu. And not just chips and soda. Customers can snack on burritos, mac-n-cheese, trail mix, juices and other assorted items.

“It’s about the experience,” says Fuller about the extra touches in place.

So far the response has been positive to Lakeside Laundromat.

“We’re happy. There’s nothing out here, Houston, or Willow, so this location is great, and the prices seem reasonable,” commented Red Watson, who was with his wife as they waited for their laundry.

“A lot of people who come to do laundry don’t have water, or come for the summer and this will be a big deal to people,” added Watson.

In addition to washers and dryers, Lakeside Laundromat offers 4 full-size showers and a stand-up tanning booth. Fuller says there are plans to offer a drop-off service and a pick-up and delivery option.

Lakeside Laundromat will have its grand opening on April 30, and is currently open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
