Palmer resident Lance Corporal Ryan Charles Bush, 19, died Jan. 11, 2002, in a car accident just outside of St. George, Utah. He was born March 4, 1982, in Anchorage.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Lazy Mountain Bible Church, Palmer. There will be a celebration of life for friends and family at the Palmer Moose Lodge following the services.
Ryan graduated from Palmer High School in 2000 where he was an enthusiastic wrestler, made many friends and had great adventures, according to his family.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in August of that same year. In January 2001 he reported to 1st Battalion 7th Marines, 29 Palms, California, and was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Platoon. He took his job seriously to which his rank and awards attest for such a young Marine.
His family wrote, "He always let you know that he was around. He was full of so much mischief that he could hardly contain himself. Ryan was born a warrior and that is where his heart led him. He grew to be a man in the Marines and was proud to be there. He was proud to be an American, and we are deeply honored and extremely lucky to have had his presence in our family."
Lance Corporal Ryan Charles Bush is survived by his mother, Sandra Bush; father, Bruce Bush; brother, Jon Bush; sister, Kiana Bush; grandparents, Talmadge and Barbara Weaver; grandmother, Eleanor Middleton; grandmother, Evelyn Bush; grandmother, Jacque Breeden; numerous friends and family; and Charley Company 1st Battalion 7th Marines.
Lance Corporal Bush was preceded in death by his biological father, Charles P. Middleton III, of Anchorage.
