The man for the job!
We live on Lazy Mountain where Larry DeVilbiss has lived and grown up for the past 54 years. His parents began the Wolverine Farms back in the old days. He learned all about farm life, personal self-discipline, work ethics and conservative values. We have personally been close friends with him for the past 14 years and have observed these qualities first-hand. We continue to be amazed at his renewed energy for accomplishing great tasks such as being a part of the Lazy Mt. Community Council, the Republican District and State Conventions, being on the Board of the Matanuska Electric Assn., the Director of Agriculture for the state of Alaska, yet a man of compassion, caring for an autistic step brother along with having time to help and be a friend with John Alexander and family, a man who became paralyzed 13 years ago in an accident while constructing his Mat-Su Valley home. He is a humble, frugal, brilliant (a linguist of several languages), hard worker with impeccable character. He works harder than three people put together. Larry envisions the Mat Valley as a gold mine of opportunity. We have watched him set big goals and methodically tackle and accomplish them. Larry will make things happen setting the stage for future generations.
I retired about seven and a half years ago. He is about three years older than I. One day we were talking and I said, “Well, Larry the best years of our lives are behind us.” With a quick reply and a twinkle in his eye he informed me “The best years of his life were still before him.” By taking on the mayoral race I believe he is proving that statement to be true. GO, LARRY, GO!
