Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

I’m starting to feel a little like the Biggest Loser contestants during their last chance workout.
I’m working out at the gym tonight and pushed myself harder than I have in weeks. Each time I thought about ending my workout, I heard the voices of Brutal Bill, Jillian and Bob all yelling at me telling me to “push through it” or “come on, just 5 more”. It got more than a little weird, though, when I closed my eyes and an image of the three of them blended together flashed through my mind. It wasn’t a pretty sight.
I haven’t been on the scale this week, so I’m hoping the next weigh in brings me closer to my Trim to Win goal of 30 pounds. Once the challenge is over, I plan to continue down the path of healthy living; this was just the jump start I needed. I made the ultimate commitment tonight when I signed up for a continued membership at the AT&T Sports Center.
I will absolutely consider this challenge a complete success if it has inspired even a few people to continue their commitment to better health, too.
We have been running an internal Trim to Win contest for Frontiersman employees in tandem with the community challenge since employees are not eligible to win contests we sponsor. I’m very proud of the employees who signed up for this and committed to seeing it through. Actually, I’m very proud of all of the employees, but it’s been fun to see the good-natured ribbing and competitiveness around the office. I think it’s going to be a close competition in the end. Even better than watching the competition is hearing from several of the employees that they plan to make this a permanent lifestyle change.
Speaking of fun, we’re putting finishing touches on the Trim to Win finale party and hope to see you all there. Mark your calendar for Monday, April 14th, 6:30-8:30pm.
