PALMER — Last Frontier Axe Company owner Kyle Brown said this is their second year participating as a vendor at the Alaska State Fair, and they’re off to a good start this year. He said there’s been a lot of interest in their booth in spite of the constant rain.
“It’s been a really good weekend,” Brown said.
The Last Frontier Axe Company booth features all the various axes and hatchets used at the main store in downtown Wasilla in addition to the ever popular throwing stars.
“They’re a crowd favorite,” Brown said with a laugh.
This year, there’s triple the amount of targets available. Brown said they’re striving to bring more people in while reducing wait times. He said they’ve had a lot of positive feedback and returning customers so far.
“Everybody that remembers us from last year is really happy we expanded our booth,” Brown said.
Brown said they’ve hauled their axe throwing trailer to numerous events across the community, so they were ready to take the next step and become a Fair vendor.
“It was an easy transition,” Brown said. “It’s been a blast. I love these types of atmospheres. We’ve become a part of the community. I just love building that sense of community together.”
Brown said their axe throwing booth fits in well with the Fair’s overall theme.
“This is a very Alaskan thing,” Brown said.
Brown said they plan to come back to the Fair every year. He said having the ability to be a vendor at the Fair is like a dream come true.
“I think we’ve really found our niche here,” Brown said. “We’re glad to be part of the Fair. This is an amazing opportunity for us. I definitely think it’s taking hold and it’s still continuing to grow… I’d like to be one of those staple activities at the Fair.
What’s one event that happens once a year and burns most of the state together?I would say it’s the State Fair.”
