Wasilla resident Mrs. Laura Eileen Fogleman, 55, died at Ruthie's Place Assisted Living in Wasilla on Dec. 13, 2003.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 151 E. Herning Ave. in Wasilla. Her daughter-in-law, Julie Fogleman, will officiate.

Mrs. Fogleman was born May 23, 1948, in Los Angeles.

She came to Alaska in 1997. She had lived in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Nome and Wasilla throughout her years in Alaska.

Mrs. Fogleman worked as secretary for the military police lieutenant at Fort Richardson for five years. She was a forest firefighter in North Carolina for five years and a medical transcriptionist for Fort Hood, Texas, for six years. She retired from the Civil Service in 1987.

Mrs. Fogleman enjoyed crocheting and sewing, traveling, fishing and computers.

Her family wrote, "Mom was a wonderful, outgoing woman who loved being with her family. She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren whom she loved very much. She loved to travel and we will all remember our last trip up the Alaska Highway in July and how much fun we all had together."

Mrs. Fogleman is survived by her father Bud John Prentice of Alaska; mother Jayne Allen of Florida; sisters Ruthie, Beatrice and Virginia of Alaska and Jerri of Florida; brother Bucky of Alaska; son and daughter-in-law John and Julie Fogleman of Wasilla; daughters Laura Fieker of Wasilla, Rena Goss and Julie Evans of Texas; grandchildren John Robert, Cody, Lydia and David Fogleman of Alaska, Dakota Cotton of Alaska, and Sherena Fogleman and Sabrena Johnson of Texas.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
