Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Lawrence J. Larry DeBroeck, 80, died at his home in Wasilla on Feb. 25, 2005.
Mr. DeBroeck was born in California on July 16, 1924. He retired from the military as a U.S. Naval chief. He moved to Anchorage in 1969, where he lived until moving to Homer in 1973.
He ran his own business in Homer until 1995, when he made Wasilla his home.
His family wrote, "Larry was a formidable person with a great sense of humor. He had a great impact on his entire family."
He is survived by his sons, Christopher DeBroeck and Lawrence DeBroeck Ladd; daughter, Susan Nielsen; 12 grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
