PALMER — During October, the Rotary Club of Wasilla is recruiting Valley students for the Rotary International Youth Exchange program. Wasilla Rotary is working with Palmer and Wasilla Sunrise Rotary clubs to select sophomores and freshmen high school students to study abroad.
Local Rotary clubs provide students ages 15 to 17 with an opportunity to travel to a foreign country and experience the culture for 10 months.
Wasilla Rotary Youth Exchange Recruiter Teresa Blume, along with former exchange program participants, will be at Colony High School today to talk to interested students.
Wasilla Rotary seeks open-minded, flexible students who demonstrate leadership qualities and have high moral standards that will enable them to become excellent cultural ambassadors for their country, Wasilla Rotary Club and the Alaska Rotary district.
Interviews and student selection is slated for November with travel abroad set for August 2014. Interested applicants can find details and a short form application at ye5010.org.
