Legendary blues performer coming to Raven Hall

PALMER -- In late December, the Alaska State Fair is hosting its first Cabin Fever Reliever Concert, featuring Portland's journeyman blues artist Curtis Salgado, who will be making his Alaska debut.

People will be able to blow away those midwinter blues and shake off their cabin fever at the adults-only concert and dance at Raven Hall on Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Salgado's blues credentials are impeccable. He's performed with such legends as Carlos Santana, Robert Cray, and Roomful of Blues, and most recently with guitarist Jimmy Vaughn.

John Belushi modeled the Blues Brothers' character "Jake" on Salgado's hip stage patter and appearance, and the Blues Brothers' album "Briefcase Full of Blues" was dedicated to Salgado.

Salgado fronts a power lineup of blues artists, with impressive vocals and smoking harp work. He admits to liking everything from George Jones to George Clinton, and his albums are a mix of soul, country and Chicago-style blues.

In addition to touring with other blues and rock legends in the past decade, Salgado has released four of his own albums -- "Curtis Salgado and the Stilettos" in 1991, "More Than You Can Chew" in 1995, "Hit It and Quit It" in 1997, and "Wiggle Outta This" in 1999.

Tickets for the Salgado show are available at Metro Music in Anchorage, and online at Tickets.com.

Tickets are also available at all CARRS TIX locations. Tickets are $20, plus ticket outlet fees.
