Legislators continue budget farce

To the editor,

Dear AK Leg. Budget and Audit Committee and Finance members,

If what I hear about what is going on down there is true, you need to know that I am angry and I am not alone.

About the $4 billion deficit: Plan4Alaska, Governor Walker and (for lack of a better name) the GCI Plan, all claim there is a $4 billion deficit for which we the people need to pay. That $4 billion deficit is only real if you are intending to go ahead and release and vote in a $5.2 billion budget. So, I suggest that you get closer to the $4.2 billion budget figure the House Finance Committee released and forget restructuring our Permanent Fund or asking us to pay more, or any taxes (including income, capital gains, cancelled exemptions and/or only a portion of our Dividends) until you've got the spending problem under control.

United For Liberty, about whom none of you speak publicly, has provided you with a sound building block for delivering a sane budget. I suggest that you stay down there and fight it out to move on those suggestions.

Shame on you all for not becoming angry for us; for agreeing to this insanity and continuing this farce without end.
