Central Mat-Su Fire Department and the Loren Marshall Foundation staff taught 110 state senators, representatives and legislative staff how to perform hands-only CPR in Juneau last week. Central Mat-Su paramedic Kara Boothby and Jim Foster, president of the Loren Marshall Foundation, conducted the training as part of the Big Wild Heart of Alaska initiative.

Boothby said they are training people using the American Heart Association’s Friends and Family CPR Anytime kit, and they left one at the office of each of the 28 legislators who participated.

“The support and leadership demonstrated by our elected officials participation is notable for its excellence in setting an example for all citizens to follow,” she said.
