Legislators who support PFD raid should be removed

To the editor:

Taking time from our busy schedules to comment on rushed legislation designed to get around the time-honored process of negotiation and compromise is getting old. The Republican majority continues to play hide and seek with the public process, scheduling public hearings, then canceling them at will.

Cuts to mega projects that will require billions of federal and state subsidies with little evidence of any savings to the public once completed must be axed before the Permanent Fund Dividend is raided. This Legislative session is the most dysfunctional Alaska has ever witnessed. It is shameful. Any legislator who votes to take money from the PFD, in whatever form, should be removed from office.
