On behalf of the Emergency Preparedness Planning Committee, we would like to extend our sincere thank you and appreciation to all of the sponsors, exhibitors and general public who came out to the Menard Sports Center on Saturday, Sept. 30 to get prepared for all types of emergencies and disasters. This year’s event was a huge success and we could not have done this without the help and support of our community. We believe that this event helps us all become more resilient in times of emergencies and disasters. The volunteers were incredible and it was awesome to see the huge turnout. Special thanks goes to our fiscal sponsors including: AARP Alaska, Mat Su Health Foundation, Mat Valley Federal Credit Union, Alaska Department of Public Safety, City of Wasilla, Mat-Su Borough Local Emergency Planning Committee, and the Alaska Railroad. We also want to recognize our key volunteer groups which included: Colony JROTC, Primal Martial Arts, Career Tech High School, Wasilla Boy Scouts, Willow Citizen Emergency Response Team and the Wasilla High School Cheerleaders. Thank you to all the independent volunteers as well as businesses and non-profit groups who participated. We look forward to continued growth in the years to come and hope to see even more folks involved next year.
