To the editor:
It’s once again the holiday season and most of us are feeling pretty good.
There are however, parents of about 3000 kids in the Borough who are not feeling so good. These parents will not be able to provide their kids with gifts--not just toys, but coats and boots and books. Mari Jo Parks and all her elves at the Special Santa program make it possible for these 3000 children of all ages to wake up Christmas morning to find something under the tree that they want, or need.
The joy and relief of the parents of these children is touching, in the real spirit of Christmas. Mari Jo and her crew work incredibly hard to make the magic happen. I know, I worked there for years.
But, hard work alone can’t make it happen.
Presents for 3,000 kids is a LOT of stuff.
Anything you can do to help is always appreciated. New, wrapped toys; new clothing of all kinds; items for the teen kids who a re often forgotten; and of course cash donations are gladly accepted and used effectively.
I hope your holidays are warm and wonderful this year, and ask that you take a moment to help others less fortunate. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
