LETTER: Reader objects to column’s tone

The column by Scott Sterling in the Aug. 19 edition of the Frontiersman, “Are redneck socialists ready for real tax reform?” is just another instance in today’s world where people think it’s okay to name and quantify a group with insulting names.

I am NOT a PC person, and I am not against his arguments used. But really? How can you allow your paper to publish the hate-rhetoric that is so prevalent today on both sides of the coin….. ‘entitled white people, redneck socialists, teaparty zealots, near-tribal anger, insulting Trump voters’……the list goes on of the leftist talking points he has regurgitated.

Compare that editorial with Todd Smoldon’s about plastic bag taxing (Aug. 13 Frontiersman), and you will see a stark difference in presentation. Whether you agree or disagree with either editorial, Scott uses inflammatory rhetoric while Todd presents a clear argument void of insults and racial slurs. Who appears to be more intelligent to you? Whose editorial would you want to read again?

Shame on you for allowing Scott Sterling’s column to be printed. You have lost a lot a integrity with me, and I’m not sure I want to read your paper anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
