Support HB 150
To the editor:
Anyone who now or in the future wants to purchase or have a home built needs to support HB 150.
For years Alaska has maintained standard building codes but without oversight. Consequently we have some contractors and subcontractors who are building substandard homes and repairs. And they are selling these homes for as much as those that are build to Alaska code.
The short version of HB 150 is that no contractor will be able to do any work on any privately owned residential dwelling that is covered by the state residential building code without a residential contractor endorsement. Look up the entire bill.
HB 150 is too late for me as I have spent hundreds making corrections to our new home, but every honest person, banker, bonding company, and insurance company should support this bill.
