To the editor:
When I started telling people about Patricia Faye-Brazel and why she is running for the open house seat in District 10, the most common response was “I have never heard of her.” Like so many people running for the first time, you may not recognize her name, but she is far from new to political organizing.
I have known of Patricia for years, and the entire time I have known her, she has been there for people. Patricia is there to make the lives of those around her better. She has always been behind the scenes, listening to those who want to share their concerns, and not thinking twice before bringing people together to solve a problem. I have never seen her seek credit for any of the work she does. Instead, she raises up the voices of those who are seldom heard.
Between her work with Alaska Native tribes and helping her neighborhood develop sustainable food sources locally, she keeps busy helping others. That is why I know she is the best choice to be a representative in the Alaska House because she has little concern for party politics or ideologies. She is there for the people and has not lost touch with what it means to be a public servant. She was the unseen, seldom heard workhorse during the 2016 Alaska Primary that powered the Bernie Campaign all over Alaska. She did give a rousing talk at the Houston Caucus.
Sadly, I can’t vote for Patricia in the General Election because I don’t live in District 10. But, even though I live in Palmer, I want a representative who cares about all the residents here and will not be beholden to the oil companies or big money special interests. Patricia will help make Alaska a better place to work, play and thrive.
I am so tired of the same voices we see every election, voices of the corporations with their PACs and outside influences. They are clear! ly not working for us. We have a chance to change that and I believe the best person to work hard for all of us is Patricia Faye-Brazel.
Alaska needs your voice to be heard. Go Vote.
