In this season of giving thanks, we at Wasilla Area Seniors, Inc. would like to thank our donors for the immense generosity they’ve shown WASI and our seniors over the past year.
Much of that generosity has come in the way of grants and major donations, including: two grants totaling $51,200 from Walmart, to support our Meals on Wheels and Nutrition programs; an $18,600 grant from United Way of Mat-Su, also to support our meal programs; $7,700 from Church on the Rock, to support our general operations; $5,000 from the Carr Foundation and $2,500 from the Gottstein Family Foundation, also to support general operations; a $5,000 grant from the Alaska Community Foundation and a $2,500 Mat-Su Health Foundation grant, to pay for fundraising consulting services, which will help ensure our sustainability.
In addition, we’d like to thank the sponsors, participants and volunteers that supported our 2016 Miles for Meals on Wheels 5K, which brought in more than $23,000 to support our home-delivered meals program. And finally, we’d like to thank the many, many others who’ve supported us this year through sponsorships, membership fees, donations and volunteerism.
Together, you’ve helped us raise more than $140,000 to support seniors in the Mat-Su Borough.
From all of us here at WASI, many thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
