I found the quote, “This is not an ordinance to protect people. It is to bludgeon us into not building a coal plant. It is an overtly and purely political act on the part of the borough,” attributed to Tuckerman Babcock regarding the Mat-Su Borough's action on the coal plant issue particularly poignant.
The irony of his statement is that the entire coal plant issue and the acrimony about it has to do with MEA administration and most of the MEA board's act of forcing the coal plant upon its cooperative member-owners and all borough residents with incomplete and flawed information and without our participation and agreement.
