Standing Rock invitation
I, Rob Mulford, War Resister Write-In Candidate for U.S. Senate, Alaska, do proclaim my unwavering solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe in their struggle for sovereignty over their sacred Lands; my utter revulsion at the violation of their human rights at the hands of the State and private henchmen who are acting on the behest of Capital and the Oil Robber Barons; and declare my intention to join them at Standing Rock after the polls close onNovember 8.

A Question for the Mat Su Borough
To the editor:
I moved from Anchorage to Beaver Lake to raise my family and have resided here for almost 30 years. Through the years, I have seen our secondary dirt roads improve from four wheel drive to pavement on most roads. Thanks to our Mat Su Borough and their hard and dedicated work we have good roads. We own several parcels of property and pay taxes on all them. I expect as a tax payer and resident of the Mat Su Borough to have well maintained roads! During the past several years our roads have been the best maintained roads that I have seen in 30 years.
This is all due to those pink vehicles and equipment you see working seven days a week night and day. The roads are grated, the culverts are brightly marked and the brush is cut back from the roads. This sure does help to spot the dreaded moose. In the winter, the roads are plowed and sanded almost daily “great job”! But in the past the previous contractors waited until we had several inches of snow or the roads did not get plowed and sanded until the school buses were running.
Thanks to those pink trucks and equipment this has all changed. I know how hard it is for the borough to keep track of hundreds of miles of roads. But somewhere along the way you have dropped the ball and not given those pink vehicles the credit that they have due to them.
For the hard work and dedicated job that Mr. & Mrs Tew have done for our community, which we so love. It is to my understanding you are going to award the road maintenance contract to a different contractor to maintain our roads.
Shame on you if this is true!
I have been in business myself and I know how hard it is to get a contractor that is as dedicated to do the job they are hired for. Just maybe you should check these roads for yourselves and thank Mr. & Mrs Tew for all days and nights and many many hours that they have dedicated to maintaining our roads and the safety for our community.

Cartoon not appropriate
for children
To the editor:
In Sundays Oct. 23, paper there was a comic from Over the Hedge that was so inappropriate. Being that it is in the comics it was targeted at our children. That is gross. When you are biased in the main part of the paper, the parents can choose whether what you write is fact or opinion, but targeting the children is pure propaganda. There are parents that trust comics will not indoctrinate their children, and you crossed a line. Keep politics out of comics.

Qualified candidate deliberately excluded
from debates
To the editor:
After listening to presidential debates, many voters are disgusted with Trump and Hillary. Is this the best we have to offer – two old fools arguing over which one is more despicable?
Fortunately, there is a better candidate: Gary Johnson, two-term governor from NM, experienced, competent and honest. He was excluded from the debates (by the other candidates), even though he qualified to be on the ballots in all 50 states.
No law says we must choose from only two political parties. Abraham Lincoln was a 3rd party candidate and he healed a divided nation. We need that kind of leadership now.
Johnson, a seasoned governor, has the know-how and political maturity to end the insane, childish partisanship that is tearing the government and nation apart.
Gary Johnson is not a recognized name. Debates and media only inform us about the other two, the ones we di! slike. Then we wonder: Will I be proud of my vote? I want a president I can feel comfortable with. Please meet Gary Johnson personally, by viewing the JohnsonWeld2016 video at lp.org. You’ll learn more in this short video than in an hour of hot air debate. Like “Honest Abe,” Gov. Gary Johnson is genuine, decent and honest.
