Letters to the editor

An open letter to Mayor CottleTo the editor:

Dear Bert,

On behalf of our community, I want you to know that many people are praying for you and wishing you well.

I have enjoyed working with you for the past 4 years as Mayors of our respectfully cities. There were times we were in competition for certain developments and business expansions and other times we were working alongside each other. I believe on behalf of both of us, we tried to keep the rhetoric and spurring on the football field and the Potato Bowl. Wasilla won last year for your final year as Mayor, but Palmer had won all previous games and of course Palmer bought back to Palmer, the trophy last weekend.

I was in many ways looking forward to us campaigning for the Mat Su Borough Mayor’s position. I still would like to hear your ideas for making our borough, a better place for our citizens to live, work and play.

Take care just know that you lots of people praying and pulling for you.

Best wishes,

Edna DeVries, Palmer Mayor

Mat Su Borough Mayor Candidate

Beck is the right leader for the Mat-SuTo the editor:

I’m voting for Matthew Beck for borough mayor on Nov. 2. As the owner of Mahay’s Jetboat Adventures in Talkeetna, I value his experience as a small business owner in the borough. I know he will work hard for growing small businesses and tourism, and to keep the Mat-Su a great place to live and work.

The tourism industry is vital to both the borough and the state. I believe we are poised to create great opportunities here for our economy and our future. Matthew Beck is the right leader to bring people together to make this happen.

Supports DeVries for mayorTo the editor:

During this local election time I would like to encourage folks who don’t know much about the various candidates, to consider voting for Edna DeVries for Mat Su Borough Mayor. During the fifteen years I’ve known her, I can honestly say that she is very well qualified for this position. She’s extremely honest and is a born leader in my opinion. As Palmer Mayor currently and in the past, Edna knows how to tactfully and respectfully guide the city council meetings when various opinions and suggestions fill the room. Her experience and wisdom are invaluable as a public servant. I will definitely vote for Edna DeVries. Be sure to get out and vote November 2.

Sandy May,

Wasilla
