Tim Hale listens and works hard for Assembly District 1To the editor:
I’m happy we have a great choice for Assembly District 1. Tim Hale has done a great job listening and finding solutions to the needs of the community members. He has worked to find good solutions to road issues in the Buffalo Mine community. He works with anyone who seeks good options, then finds a good one to get the job done.
We really appreciate Tim’s hard work. I heartily recommend casting your vote in the borough election to re-elect Tim Hale for Assembly.
People should also be aware that his opponent, Brian Endle who is running again for the third time, managed to take over our healthy Buffalo Mine Soapstone Community council some years back. He pushed through some bizarre bylaw changes, such as requiring an extremely high number of 60 people for a quorum in order to hold a meeting. It stripped away our community’s voice and the end result was our local council died and never met again. If this is what he did with a community council, I don’t want to imagine what he could do to our borough.
Luckily we don’t have to settle for that candidate- we have a positive choice this election! I’m voting for Tim Hale because he has proven himself worthy and I trust him to keep doing a good job. A vote for Tim Hale is the positive choice for Assembly District 1.

Former Buffalo Mine Soapstone Community Council President
Truth or dareTo the editor:
Are you ready to play “Truth or Dare” with your family’s future? But it is not Truth, it is Half-Truth. The Alaska Republican Platform states they are strengthened by family, faith and personal responsibility and accountability. They support policies that minimize government intervention and control of the family. Do they? If that is the truth, why are they trying to take away women’s reproductive health care rights? Why are they trying to pass laws that discriminate against our most vulnerable children? Why do they want to ban LGBTQ+ children from receiving free or reduced lunches? Why do they want to eliminate federal funding for schools, which eliminate Title 1 schools (schools that assist students from low income families and by the way, 75% of the schools in the Mat-Su are Title 1 schools)? Why do they want to reduce funding for Medicaid and continued reduction of funding to schools? Why are they eliminating, destroying, tearing down instead of rebuilding, growing, enhancing? Why? Because they are driven by power, driven by their own ideals and values and want to force them on you. They say they are here for you and listen to you, but are they, do they? They do what is best for them and not for you.
The Dare is – Dare to make a difference, dare to vote for candidates who are honest, compassionate, who actually listen to you and do what is best for all and not what is best for only those who voted for them. Vote for those who treat people with respect and dignity and will fight for what is right – for ALL. Vote for a positive change. “Dare to Make a Difference”! Vote to protect you and your family’s rights and future.

Supporting the Constitutional ConventionTo the editor:
My name is Mike Coons from Palmer.
I have looked at the Alaska State Constitution closely, I have been active with State Legislature and have come to the conclusion that We the People are not being represented as well as we should have been over this last 10 years. We have voted out legislators whom have not followed the law and sadly we have kept legislators who could care less if the law or the Constitution is violated!
The fix for this is a Constitutional Convention to bring our Constitution that was written by liberal delegates back to center. That word “liberal” is a far cry from what we have today! None of them could be elected today by the Democrat party which has become socialist. The Missouri Plan is no longer in existence which was a major blueprint, along with Colorado and others. That was at time that is not recognizable today!
Yes, our legislature could amend the Constitution, however the chances of that at the best over the next 10 years is zero. What with our PFD being stolen, our judicial system of judges and State Supreme Court Justices legislating from the bench, a legislature that could care less that We the People voted for no longer than 90 day sessions, and to move the capitol to the road system the means to take back our State lies with voting YES on Ballot Measure 1, then voting for conservative delegates and then voting for or against what comes out of the convention! We the People have the duty to run our State! We do that by electing our State Legislators, holding them accountable and in this case making those needed changes to the Alaska State Constitution that will give We the People our voices back by putting the legislature back into the box they have slithered out of for far too long!
The lies of the George Soros 1630 PAC, the NEA, IBEW and the far left, both RINO’s and Democrats are just that., lies! Will the legislature agree to a 17 million dollar convention? No, even if we maintain the status quo in the legislature after this elect, that is not possible! 17 million? What planet are these liars from? That is just one of multiple lies. See through the lies, vote YES on Ballot Measure 1, the State Constitutional Convention! Trust your fellow Alaskans!
