PALMER — The Palmer Lions Club recently held a surprise birthday party to recognize Janet Kincaid, June Oberg, and Joanne Berberich for serving the community for over 60 years and turning 90 in the same year together.
"It was a huge event," June's daughter and Lions Club member Carol Kenley said.
All three women were adorned with celebratory crowns, and all three of them received a birthday cake.
Kenley helped organize the surprise party to honor the longtime Lions Club members' lifetime of friendship and philanthropic adventures.
"They're our lion queens," Kenley said. "These ladies are just amazing not just as lions but amazing servants of the community."
Kincaid referred to her group of friends as the "Three Js." She said they've all raised their children in Palmer.
"We have a lot in common," Kincaid said. "Family is big to us. I think we live in one of the greatest places in the earth,"
All three Palmer women turn 90 this year. Kincaid said that she feels blessed for being able to witness the various generations in their family and friends' circle grow.
"It's our biggest adventure yet," Kincaid said.
Kincaid, Oberg, and Berberich have learned a lot during their time on this earth. They each reflected on their journey and shared simple yet powerful words of wisdom.
Oberg said to "work hard," Berberich said to "be kind," and Kincaid said to "be grateful."
