All of us at Alaska Family Services want to say thank you to the Mat-Su Community for making our first Lighten Up solstice event on June 21 a big success.
Our theme of “Celebrating Families” gave people an opportunity to do fun and healthy activities. The event was free in great part due to the help of the Mat Su Health Foundation, with additional assistance from the Palmer Arts Council, and the City of Palmer. We had wonderful food and craft vendors on hand and marvelous storytellers like Sheila Fritz, David and Deanna Gleason, Debra Lighthart and Walter Grant. Musical entertainment was provided by Medicine Dream, Josh Fryfogle, Ellen Ruby-Markie and Phil White.
The sunshine was an added bonus!
Alaska Family Services offers a variety of programs to individuals and families. We focus on helping families to meet their needs and building on their strengths. At any time any one of us may need a helping hand, and it is nice to know that our community is there to offer that help in some fashi on. Stay well.
