Lighthouse Family Medicine, a new primary care medical clinic in Wasilla, has opened its doors to new patients through a unique membership system. Members have access to a variety of medical services with generous access to the Lighthouse Family Medicine team that works to take each patient’s health personally.
“Lighthouse Family Medicine was born out of a vision for more human-centered, generous, and accessible primary care,” Founder and Lead Physician at Lighthouse Family Medicine Dr. Elizabeth Turgeon M.D. said. “I saw how traditional healthcare systems can often feel rushed — patients waiting long, insurance bureaucracies, a lack of continuity — and I wanted to build a practice where the focus is on connection, continuity, and trust. The lighthouse is a symbol for guidance, safety, and refuge, and I wanted the clinic to serve like a beacon for patients.”
Dr. Turgeon is a board-certified family physician with more than 25 years of experience. She trained at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and has worked with patients across Alaska, from traditional hospital systems to rural clinics. She served as the Medical Director at Valley Native Primary Care in Wasilla and currently serves as the Assistant Dean Alaska Region for Pacific Northwest University College of Medicine.
A membership-based model allows Dr. Turgeon to spend more time with each patient and develop a healthcare relationship with each and every person that visits their clinic. The model allows the team to limit the amount of patients to provide that personalized care and not feel the pressure of a large volume of patients. Members have enhanced access to 24/7 communication with the clinic and can schedule appointments as needed in a quick fashion.
While not a replacement for insurance, the membership program is designed to create a more personalized experience and to help cover services otherwise not covered by insurance companies. For those without insurance or those with out-of-network coverage, patient membership provides coverage when services may not be accessible otherwise.
Lighthouse Family Medicine services includes acute care, such as colds and flu, to chronic disease management, preventative medicine, men’s and women’s health and adult and pediatric annual wellness exams. Lighthouse Family Medicine also conducts minor medical procedures, vaccinations, trigger point injections, wellness education, chronic condition management and more.
Membership can be paid for monthly or annually, with a minimum six month commitment for monthly payments and 12 months for annual payments. Membership fees differ depending on age, whether patients are insured or not insured and whether patients are currently on Medicare. Monthly fees cover office visits, annual wellness exams, basic office procedures, in-office testing and generous access to the team over telemedicine. More information can be found on their website or by calling their office at (907) 357-5483.
Providing these healthcare services for the community is more than just a job for Dr. Turgeon; it’s a calling.
“I believe strong primary care that centers on real human relationships can change health outcomes, reduce stress, and build trust,” Dr. Turgeon said. “By offering more generous access, deeper continuity, and truly acting as a partner in people's health journeys, I hope to restore faith in medical care. I want patients to feel seen, heard, and empowered. And in a place like Alaska — with its unique geographic challenges — having a clinic that is deeply connected to its community is especially meaningful.”
Their office is located at 851 Westpoint Drive Suite B1-5 Wasilla, Alaska 99654. In-office visits are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
