Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt Linda Diane Bogart, 66, died April 21, 2018, at home in Palmer, Alaska. Linda was born November 2, 1951 in Sacramento, California; where she spent her childhood years growing up and graduated from San Juan High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation Linda met and fell in love with her husband of nearly 41 years, James W. Bogart III. They were later blessed with children Antoinette Renee' and James William Bogart IV. After working in the banking industry from 1976 to 1980 her husband got a call to work for Alyeska Pipeline in Valdez, Alaska. In Valdez she started working for local Law Offices including, Daniel Winfree and William Bixby. Having a passion for the legal system she went on to work for the Alaska Court System in Valdez in 1987 where she was a small claims clerk, district recorder, and deputy magistrate. In 1990 her and her husband transferred to Anchorage, Alaska where she began working as the Supervisor in the Criminal Court Division until 1992. Eventually settling and making Palmer, Alaska their final home she went to work at the Palmer Court House until 2004. After a short break, in 2005 she joined the Office of Public Advocacy where she remained until retiring from the State of Alaska in the fall of 2015. The journey led her to new and long lasting friends and coworkers that she respected, cared deeply for, and spoke very highly of. Linda will be forever missed by her son, JW; daughter, Antoinette; grandchildren, Alexis, Ally, & 'Greenhead' Dylan; father, Bernard Karlin; stepmother, Maggie Karlin; mother in-law, Beverly Bedient; sister, Jill; cousin, Tina Lau; sister in-law, Kathleen and her husband, Mike Harless; sister in-law, Mary Frances Bogart; brother in-law, Wayne Bogart and his wife Karen; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many forever friends. Preceding her in death was her husband, James William Bogart III and her mother, Myrtle Karlin. At Linda's request, a memorial service will not be held.
