Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Linda Elaine Mitchell, 56, died at her home Dec. 24, 2004.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today Friday, Dec. 31, at the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Wasilla, with Pastor Charles Masterson officiating. Flower donations will be welcome. Her ashes will be scattered over her favorite fishing spot at Ship Creek.
Ms. Mitchell was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Vancouver, Wash. She was a Christian and loved God. She donated a lot of money to spiritual organizations. She enjoyed numerous craft activities such as sewing, quilting and knitting. She loved fishing, camping, reading and watching car races and movies.
Her family wrote, "She was a very loving, caring person. She always loved doing things for her children and grandchildren. She loved to watch her son, Robert, race his sprint car. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her friends. She has many very special friends in Idaho, Washington, Alaska and Montana."
She is survived by her son, Robert Hansen of Wasilla; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Brent Beckwith of Palmer; daughter, Andrea Hansen of Anchorage; grandchildren, Amanda, Amber and Cameron of Palmer and Daniel and Christopher of Anchorage; parents, Bob and Eileen Swinehart of Vancouver, Wash., and her ex-husband, Jess Hansen of Anchorage.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
