PALMER — Little Shop of Horrors is currently showing at the Glenn Massay Theater through Nov 5.
Little Shop of Horrors is a dark comedy about a bloodthirsty plant fed by a meek flower shop assistant.
Director and lead actor Bronsen Stewart said that he’s thrilled to have the opportunity to present all the hard work, creativity, and fun his cast and crew put into this local adaption of the widely beloved musical.
“I have an amazing cast and crew. This is the most I’ve seen a cast and crew come together and give their free time,” Stewart said. “It’s been really fun to explore and be 100 percent creative. We’ve been building the plants out of our garage.”
Little Shop of Horrors is the first show being presented through Stewart’s newly established local production company A List Productions. He said his goal is to offer high production value to every show they present to the public.
“Even though it’s community theater, We want to go at it from a more professional standpoint and do the best show that we can,” Stewart said. “It’s meant to be here to open up that world, that diversity and complete creative flow. It’s culture.
We want to be the group that is pushing for more diversity,” Stewart said.
This is Stewart’s first time acting and directing in the same show.
“It’s been really fun and it’s been awesome.”I’ve been on every side and aspect of this show. It’s been super busy and challenging, but it’s been the most fun and the most rewarding part of this whole thing… When it comes down to it, I just love to do it,” Stewart said. “We can just ride it out to the end and have fun with it. That’s the best.”
Stewart said he’s thankful to have the chance to utilize the Glenn Massay Theater for his first show. He said the Massay is a top-notch facility that serves as a vital community asset.
“They were very quick to say yes. I wouldn’t be able to do it without Massay partnering up. They’re just so awesome on every level,” Stewart said. “I don’t know why some people don’t know that it’s here. I think it’s probably one of the most important things that can be out here.”
Little Shop of Horrors runs Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. To order tickets online, visit glennmassaytheater.com.
