A group of Mat-Su prep athletes were recently named to the All-Valley Swimming and Diving Team.
Colony, Palmer and Wasilla landed a dozen swimmers and divers on the first- and second-team lists. Colony’s Jonathan Cowin and Konnor Kolberg, and Palmer’s Stewart Sawyer and Jaxon Lee were named first-team for the boys swimmers. Colony’s Jasmine Anderson and Jasmine Biederman, Palmer’s Ally Ferguson and Olivia Beck, and Wasilla’s Kaylin Klotunowitch were named first-team for the girls swimmers. Colony’s Eli Krozel and Xander Backus, Palmer’s Temujin Horsey and Craig Elledge, and Wasilla’s Kade Reynolds and Deshawn Campbell were named first-team for the boys divers. Colony’s Suzanne Beatty, Palmer’s Tyler Coffman and Meika Lee, and Wasilla’s Lily Collins and Sammy Geoghegan were named first-team for the girls divers.
Colony’s Karson Kolberg and Kristofer VanGorder, and Palmer’s Kaeson Dalrymple-Sorenson were named second-team for the boys swimmers. Colony’s Joscelyn Barette and Avery Palenske, Palmer’s Kyra Pettit and Jadyn Collier were named second-team for the girls swimmers. Colony’s Bryon Croom, Palmer’s Hunter Hill, and Wasilla’s Gage Cole and Joey Jurva were named second-team for the boys divers. Palmer’s Ally Hrncir, and Wasilla’s Kaitlyn Long and Madilyn Bindon were named second-team for the girls divers.
The three Valley swimming and diving programs were restricted to only intradistrict competition in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Mat-Su Borough School District mitigation plans. The season was ultimately suspended due to a rise of coronavirus throughout the Mat-Su.
