A local business is reaching out to the community for assistance in finding vandals who were seen on security footage trespassing, and may be responsible for recent vandalism.

Valley Block & Concrete in Wasilla has been vandalized twice this month, most recently his past weekend. “It’s the second weekend in a row we’ve been targeted,” said Shawn Purviance of Valley Block & Concrete.

On Saturday, June 14, between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., two individuals trespassed onto the property, which was caught on their security system. Two individuals can be seen walking across the front of the office and attempting to break into the batch plant office, and returning several times over a two-hour period.

“They tried opening windows, and at one point, one of them is seen holding a torch,” reports Purviance.

He reports that they appear to be responsible for spray-painting vulgar graffiti on several of the company’s concrete mixer trucks using safety orange paint, which will cost thousands of dollars to repair.

Purviance says this latest incident came just one week after the company was attacked. On the weekend of June 7th, he says vandals discharged fire extinguishers inside trucks, smashed vehicle dashboards and broke equipment, threw a water pump into a pond, and added water to the oil of a large Caterpillar commercial generator. That attack also caused many thousands of dollars in damage.

“We have screenshots and video from multiple camera angles of the most recent suspects, and we are working closely with law enforcement.”

A report has been filed with the Alaska State Troopers Report #AK25057835.

“We are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible,” Purviance said, adding that they will pursue all legal options to identify and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. “We will spare no expense in holding them accountable in civil court as well.”

Anyone with any information is asked to please contact the Alaska State Troopers and reference the above case number. All tips will be handled confidentially.
