PALMER — Five local businesses are participating in the Palmer Museum of History and Art’s inaugural Palmer Sip and Shop event this Friday starting at 5 p.m.
The community is invited to sample dozens of wines at various retail locations across downtown Palmer.
Tickets include eight 2 ounce pours, free snacks and access to a 50/50 split the pot raffle, a silent auction, giveaways, and other activities throughout the event.
Sip and Shop attendees will check in at the Palmer Trian Depot and make their way to Peak Boutique, Northern Lilly, NonEssentials, Whimsy Gift Shoppe, and Cobb Street Market.
Palmer Museum Executive Director Sam Dinges said they created this event to offer the community a fun and social outing and raise additional funds for programs such as their educational tours during the summer.
“It’s a nice kind of cabin fever reliever,” Dinges said.
Dinges said they were inspired by the popularity of their annual Wine Walk event, the museum’s most successful fundraiser. He said they have a great partnership with local business owners who participated in the Wine Walk event in the past and eagerly came on board for the new Palmer Sip and Shop event.
“It’s a great partnership with our local downtown business sending more customers to shop local during a slow month of the year,” Dinges said. “It’s really great to see this intersection of supporting nonprofits and supporting small businesses in Palmer.
Cobb Street Market owner, Andrea Fuller has participated in numerous Wine Walk events. She said that she loves when people show up in costume.
“It’s a lot of fun,” Fuller said.
Fuller said that she donated several handmade hats for Palmer Sip and Shop this Friday. She also made hates for Wine Walk, which is typically held in July. She said that she will be offering special discounts at the store to attendees during both events.
Fuller said it’s vital to support nonprofit organizations like the Palmer Museum. She said their staff and volunteers offer an important and irreplaceable service to the community throughout the year.
“They really are dedicated to what they do,” Fuller said. “It just wouldn’t be Palmer without that resource.”
Check-in for Palmer Sip and Shop will be at the Palmer Train Depot. There are 200 tickets available to this event. Admission is $60 and members receive a special rate of $50 for their first four ticket purchases. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or over the phone.
