PALMER — Valley developers H5 Construction have purchased a property near Colony High School with plans for a mixed use development at the southeast corner of Trunk Road and Bogard Road on 20 acres of land. The property’s current form is as a hay field, but H5 Partner Jared Hacker said that construction on the property will begin in earnest next spring.

“We were raised here,” said Hacker. “It’s just very important to us to build a better community and add to the community and the less that we have to travel to Anchorage the better.”

Plans for the mixed-use development include a gas station and multi-family housing structures as well as the potential for restaurants and other commercial spaces. Hacker’s brother and fellow H5 developer Cameron Johnson has spearheaded the largest mixed-use development area in the Valley at The Shoppes at Sun Mountain with businesses like Sonic, Krispy Kreme, Planet Fitness and the Matanuska Telephone Association with more yet to be built. Hacker said that H5 has also closed on a number of other properties recently and other projects are in the works.

“That’s what it’s all about for us, providing good paying jobs out here while bettering our community and bringing some of those big name brands to Wasilla,” said Hacker.

The 20 acre plot sits across from the gravel pit near Colony Middle School.
