The Mat-Su Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition has partnered with the Army National Guard to provide a free night of fun for teens on New Year’s Eve.
Teens ages 14 to 18 are invited to attend the event from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the AT&T Sports Center on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. A parent must sign in all teens attending the event and once a teen leaves the building they will not be allowed to re-enter.
This year’s event includes free access to a variety of games and gaming systems. Snack and drinks also will be available for purchase. The event includes a talent contest with cash prizes awarded for the top three drug prevention skits, songs and dances. First place is $350 cash.
Talent show guidelines:
• All entries must be appropriate and reflect a drug-free lifestyle.
• Entries must be registered no later than 9 p.m.
• If your entry requires special equipment, please submit this registration to the address below by Dec. 28.
• The contest will take place at about 10 p.m.
• Winner will be announced shortly after midnight and must be present to win.
• Lyrics, music and video clips may be submitted with entries if desired.
