Local guide killed on hunt

WASILLA — A local hunting guide was killed in what Alaska State Troopers described as an accidental shooting near Wrangell.

According to a press statement, troopers and the Wrangell Police Department responded to an area near the head of Bradfield Canal in the Wrangell area at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

There they found that Ralph Delius of West Bloomfield, Mich., had accidentally shot Bret Millo while the pair were on a guided brown bear hunt.

The shooting happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. Authorities do not believe foul play was involved. A state database of professional licenses shows Millo’s license is up-to-date.
