Due to two Valley men demonstrating extreme thoughtfulness this past week, my appreciation for those who truly care about others has been pleasantly reinforced. Dan Amyot, a state park ranger at Finger Lake headquarters called out of the blue to inform me that he had located a lost water testing tote full of supplies lettered with “Wasilla Soil and Water Conservation District” and wished to return it to its rightful owner. A day or two later, Warren Templin, a tenured veteran as the Mat-Su Borough Parks and Recreation Outdoor Recreation Manager notified me that one of his crew on trash pick up detail had noticed a Scout box in one of the trash cans. Being a long-time, prior Scout leader, Warren notified me to request assistance in getting this box to the right unit. He was concerned that these records/paperwork must not be simply discarded.
Both of these caring acts have demonstrated that natural resource type folks who serve the public believe in the brotherhood of man. They surely went the extra mile for others they never met. Refreshing!
Dan and Warren, thank you gentlemen for caring. May you be an inspiration for other neighbors.
