Local politician supports Parks

This letter is written on my personal letterhead and sent from my personal computer at my home. The opinion presented does not necessarily represent anyone’s view but my own. I was formally a registered Democrat but have changed to non-partisan.

I believe this was necessary to keep partisan politics out of our local government. I have voted for Republicans, Democrats and Independents. I think there are many other Alaskans who feel as I do: once you enter the booth, you vote for the person you believe is able to do the best possible job.

This is why I am supporting David Parks as the best Republican candidate for House District 13 (City of and Greater Palmer Area) in the primary election. This is the first time I have publicly supported a candidate and I only do so because I find the performance of the incumbent untenable. I must speak up now or regret not doing so for the next two years.

To date, the incumbent has shown dismal support of local issues that would enhance the availability of goods, services and recreation afforded by the City of Palmer for the Greater Palmer area. During the four years I have served in my position, I cannot recall an instance where the incumbent has initiated contact or supported the goals of the government of those who call Palmer home.

I believe David Parks will actually initiate contact with his constituents and study comprehensive plans for the area and connect with the entire population of Greater Palmer. I believe David Parks will ask what is needed rather than just showing up with something of his own choosing. And finally, I believe David Parks will hold Palmer town meetings in Palmer rather than Wasilla! I urge you to join me in voting for David Parks in the primary election.
