White wins stock event

David White won the main event in the stock class at Capitol Speedway July 19.

White edged Dan Mingo and Justin Haxton in the event.

Other winners during the day included Dan Roudowsky in the mini-stock class, Virgie Thompson in the hobby stock class, Brad Cooke in the truck class and Jay Irving in the sportsman class.

Prockish wins top eliminator

Mat-Su Valley's Wittner and Thomas sweep competition

WASILLA -- Palmer's Mike Thomas was on a roll Saturday evening at North Star Speedway in Wasilla.

Thomas, a multiple division champion, ran away with three victories in the legends division during a sunny Full Throttle Saturday Night.

Thomas started the perfect night by notching a hard-fought victory in the Alaska Legends Shoot-Out, a double-elimination race, over fellow competitors Doug Sheldon, Bill Fread and defending champion Michelle Kyte. Thomas kept his winning ways rolling, grabbing both the heat and feature wins for the division and taking a large points lead in the FTSN championship point standings.

Wasilla's Eric Wittner had the same success Saturday in the thunder stock class. Wittner, in his rookie year of racing, survived a late charge by Anchorage's Gary Keeling in the feature event to capture his first ever feature win. Keeling's final lap, turn four rush to the lead sent his car around backward across the finish line securing a second-place finish. Wittner also won the heat races closely followed by tundra thunder winner David Retherford, Tim Mutch and Jessie Lange.

Racing continues this Saturday with the Sportsman Super Trucks 99 Lap Race and Full Throttle Saturday Night.
