Strange weather plays havoc on track conditions

WASILLA-- Cars, drivers and fans made it through one of the coldest, nastiest, race days in North Star Speedway history Saturday night during the Budweiser Summer Heat event. With high winds, fierce rains and looming downpours, drivers did their best to manage ever-changing track conditions.

Last year's Legends champion Mike Braddock took the checkers in the feature main after his car survived a vicious four-car tangle during the first heat. Braddock became the third different driver to win a legends feature race this season.

Eagle River's Larry Theobald grabbed the win in the baby grands after passing road course expert Lash Larew with limited laps remaining. Other winners Saturday included Chris Hawley in mini stocks, Robert Tillery and David Retherford in thunder stocks.
