Standing water hampers weekend racing
WASILLA -- Heavy rain and standing water in the pits forced North Star Speedway officials to cancel Saturday's installment of Full Throttle Saturday Night in Wasilla.
Cars that race at North Star Speedway sit too low for the under parts of the vehicle to clear puddles, which in some places resembled small boat harbors.
Management rescheduled last weekends events, "A Salute to Fathers Day", presented by Spenard Builders Supply, to July 19. The make-up will also feature the Alaska Legends Shoot-Out double elimination race.
Racing continues this Saturday with the MTA SST 75 Lap Race and a Salute to Alaska's Organized Labor Unions Presented by IBEW Local #1547 .
Admission is free to union members. Kids under 10 are also free. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m..
