WASILLA — Local Keller Williams real estate agent Larry Maulden is celebrating 50 years of service in the community with a golf tournament at the Settler’s Bay Golf Course.

“We’ve been very blessed with all the ups and downs,” Maulden said.

Maulden primarily works with clients in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley. He said the biggest thing that’s helped him connect so many people into happy homes has been the power of listening.

“The magic of it is to take an hour to find out what’s really important to them so you can hone in on what they’re looking for,” Maulden said.

Maulden is also a managing member at the Settler’s Bay Golf Course. He was the selling broker with the partnership that purchased the golf course in 2002. He’s been an active member ever since.

He even settled down with a house right off the 18th fairway after years of jumping from house to house with his wife Bonnie. He takes a trail right off his property to the course on a regular basis, finding a lot of pride and good company amongst his neighbors.

“It’s a combination of ownership, commitments, and community,” Maulden said.

The U.S. Air Force brought Maulden to Alaska in 1966. He started his career real estate in the summer of 1970 with Jack White Company. He spent the remainder of his career with his current agency, Keller Williams. He said that over the years, the best part of the journey has always been the people and forming countless lasting friendships.

“Time with friends, that’s probably the secret of all of it,” Maulden said.

Maulden figured the best way to celebrate all his fond memories made across the community would be among the various friends he made over the years. The tournament is Saturday, Aug. 22. The event is open to the public, but registration is already full.
