MAT-SU — Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will fan out across the Mat-Su Borough from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday to collect food for this year’s “Scouting for Food” drive at both Valley Fred Meyer stores.
Scouts delivered “Drive to End Hunger” fliers around Mat-Su neighborhoods this week and will collect the donations.
Scout troops also will volunteer to sort and shelve the donated food after the event. Scouting for Food has gathered more than 500,000 pounds of food to date for Food Bank of Alaska.
Financial contributions are welcome at foodbankofalaska.org. Every $1 donated means four meals for hungry Alaskans.
