Local squads back in action after winter break

After a brief hiatus for the holiday break, the local prep squads will be back in action this week.

The local prep hockey squads will see their first action since mid- December. Palmer will take on Bartlett at the MacDonald Ice Arena tonight. Colony will host Chugiak Wednesday at the Brett Ice Arena. Houston will participate in the West Valley Invitational in Fairbanks this week and Wasilla will travel to Skyview.

Many of the local prep hoops teams will return to Alaska after participating in tournaments in the Lower-48. The Wasilla and Colony boys' teams will compete in the Dimond Prep Shootout, starting Thursday.

The Colony girls are slated to host Bartlett on Saturday, while the Wasilla girls will welcome Service to town on Friday and Dimond on Saturday.

The Palmer squads will travel to the Kenai Peninsula for tournaments at Soldotna and Skyview High Schools.

The Colony, Palmer and Wasilla grapplers travel to Fairbanks to participate in the annual West Valley Invitational.

The local prep cross-country ski squads will travel to Talkeetna for at meet at Susitna Valley High School this weekend.
