Local students earn academic honors at university

Burgess makes dean’s list

Wasilla’s Brianna H. Burgess has been named to the dean’s list at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn. To receive the honor, students must successfully complete a minimum 12 hours of undergraduate coursework with a grade point average of at least 3.7.

Aki named to dean’s list

Palmer’s Sean Aki has been named to the dean’s list at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. The honor is given to students who achieved a GPA of between a 3.25 and 3.64 during the fall semester.

Christiansen named scholar athlete

Concordia (Nebraska) University’s Cameron Christiansen, a junior football player from Palmer, has been named a Daktronics NAIA scholar-athlete for the fall of 2015. To be nominated, a student must have achieved at least a 3.5 GPA and achieved junior academic status.

Three make the grade at Belmont

Erika Graham and Harrison Menard of Wasilla, as well as Palmer’s Brandy Sweet, have been named to the dean’s list at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennesse. To be eligible for the honor, students must have a minimum course load of 12 hours and maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 with no grades below a C.
