Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

JUNEAU — Six Mat-Su residents will spend the next couple of months in Juneau working as pages in the Alaska Legislature. They submitted their own brief bios.
Tim Rockey, a 2011 graduate of Palmer High and Frontiersman contributor since 2008, is happy for the opportunity to work in Juneau for his first session as a Senate page.
Lydia Mielke, 18, of Big Lake
Lydia Mielke is currently beginning work as a page in the Alaska State Senate. After being a guest page for a week in the 2014 Session. She eagerly joined the Senate floor staff team for the 2015 session. Mielke is excited to be serving her state as a page.
Jacob Pennell graduated in 2009 from Colony High School. He is a former soldier with the U.S. Army Signal Corps. After being medically discharged in 2012, Pennell began attending University of Alaska Anchorage, pursing a degree in Japanese, ultimately to end with a Masters in Education.
Gordon Krueger graduated from Colony High School in 2010 and participated in soccer. He loves traveling the world and experiencing new cultures. Gordon also enjoys any activity that involves the outdoors. He is very excited to start his first session as a Senate page.
Gretchen Sharpe-Swartis a former House page from Palmer. She completed two years at Fort Lewis College majoring in art and business. She is currently taking a break from her studies. Her free time is spent drawing, making comics and playing video games. In the future, she would like to publish her comics as well as design and produce her own video games.
